Landscape Smartly before Putting Your House on the Market
Did you know that landscaping can help a home sell for 2.7% more than expected? That’s what our friends over at Zillow research have found.
With stricter social distancing measures coming back into effect as of this Friday here in New York, there’s a greater desire for more outdoor space so there’s no better time to spruce up your yard and create the functional, beautiful outdoor space that buyers are yearning for. Zillow research found homes mentioning landscaping in their listing description can sell for 2.7 percent more than expected, so depending on the value of your home, it could be a worthwhile investment. But how do you keep curb appeal for the upcoming winter months?
Plant some deciduous trees and shrubs! They don’t lose their leaves over the winter and they add life to your home winter curb appeal. You could also add evergreen shrubs such as arborvitae, cedars, boxwoods, and junipers. Instead of focusing on the lawn, look to colorful potted evergreen plants or artificial shrubs that will add distinction to your front entry. They keep your front yard looking colorful and beautiful throughout the winter months.
You can even go one step further and install a fire pit to create a family-friendly backyard hangout. Instant outdoor heating and curb appeal!
